Californian
rapper YG is bringing his first solo tour down under, headlining a one-off show in
Auckland in June.
A pre-eminent figure in the thriving US urban music scene, YG and guests will
play live at the Logan
Campbell Centre on June 14.
Hailing from the beating heart of LA’s rap scene, Compton, YG started turning
heads in 2008 with his debut mixtape 4FINGAZ, before releasing 2009’s ‘Toot
It and Boot It’ feat. Ty
Dolla Sign, which soared up the Billboard Hot 100.
With a reputation as a compelling story-teller, YG went on to make his mark with his
debut full-length album, 2014’s My Krazy Life and 2016’s critically-acclaimed Still Brazy, featuring
some of the biggest names in the game, like Lil Wayne and Drake.
“[STILL BRAZY is] full of the kind of warm G-Funk that never
fails to transport you to the part of the country it belongs to”
- Consequence of Sound
“Digging deeper into vintage
G-funk flavours with a blend of personal, party and political tracks, the young
Compton rapper takes a sizzling step forward,”
- Boston Globe
