For the first time since 2011, indie-rap surrealist Aesop Rock will return to Australia for a headlining tour this September, with performances in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, as well as, for the first time ever, a special one off headline show in Auckland, NZ.
Aesop Rock’s last Australian performances left a great impression, receiving high accolades, such as AU Review’s, “Aesop Rock gave us one of the best hip-hop shows Sydney has seen all year”.
With an undeniable flow and a penchant for rhyming over some of the best productions available in the genre, this is a live show that needs to be seen. Aesop will also be joined on this tour by his Hail Mary Mallon counterpart, Rob Sonic, as well as DJ Zone.
Two decades under his belt and Aesop’s only improving. His extensive vocabulary was reported to be the largest in rap. His choice of words warp time and disrupt balance with phonetic pairings that sprout out unpredictably. His latest album The Impossible Kid is a testament to this.
" one of the best MCs in terms of both rhyme complexity and content." – Ellenwood
Live, Aesop Rockdelivers a highly engaging and gripping performance. The energy levels keep on rising throughout the set with hands in the air and bouncing beats. The show is incredibly tight and precise, and given how complex and obscure some of Aesop Rock’s lyrics are, along with his unorthodox flow, the whole experience just leaves you in awe!
“But he was in the thick of the rager, commanding the crowd that displayed some of the best energy, dexterity and emotional power I’ve ever seen at a hip-hop show.” – Rhyme Junkie
An icon in indie-rap circles, Aesop still finds new ways to improve on his skills and still keeps pushing it forward. Witness Aesop Rock in his absolute prime.
