One of the most versatile
R&B/hip-hop artist of this decade, Blackbear,
is set to bring his Digital
Druglord tour to New Zealand, hitting up Auckland’s The Studio this
November.
Blackbear isn’t afraid to keep true to himself and the results are paying off.
The new album, Digital
Druglord, continues the upward trend and raises the bar to new
heights. After teasing his third album for months on Twitter, the new 10-track
record has critics rejoicing over its unique blend of sharp R&B/rap/hip-hop
that effortlessly weaves in and out of slow jams and floor-fillers. The success
of the album couldn’t come at a better time as he sets out on one of his most
ambitious tours to date.

A native of Los Angeles, Blackbear – born Matthew Musto – is no stranger to
writing and recording hits. You might not know it, but you’ve been listening to
him for years. Blackbear co-wrote the Justin Bieber worldwide smash-hit Boyfriend with Mike Posner
back in 2012. Already a millionaire at the age of 21, he released his first
solo album Deadroses with special guests Travis Mills, G-Eazy and James Blake. His second album Help naturally topped the
Billboard’s Uncharted list in 2014.
A few side projects later (including an album with Mike Posner) we have the
full incarnation of Blackbear with 2017’s Digital Druglord. With
the precision of a surgeon, he expertly touches on the themes close to home:
drugs, money and sex.
This is an opportunity to see the perfect amalgamation of modern hip-hop and
R&B in person this November.
