Los Angeles based Kiwis Santa Barbara have recently put the finishing touches on their latest single and video offering for Reptile Lover and are excited to announce it's release on July 8, 2017.
Reptile Lover is a fizzing, pop/punk collaboration between the band and local artist and poet Jeffrey Holgate who provided the lyrics and cover art. The song was recorded at legendary producer Jim Scott's Plyrz studios by fellow Kiwi Neil Baldock (Crowded House, Let Live, Neil Finn, Common).
The video team is made up of Director, Chris Miyasaki and Cinematographer, Anthony Ignacio who were also the team behind Santa Barbara's moody first video single The Girl in Black. Their new offering captures a high energy, pseudo-trip, live performance video shot in the basement of their good friend's house.
Santa Barbara formed in 2014 after Cassie Gaffaney and Nick Gaffaney (Cairo Knife Fight) relocated from New Zealand to Los Angeles and met up with long time friend Geoff Maddock (Goldenhorse). The band have quickly carved out a space in the crowded LA scene supporting the likes of Pom Poms, Tomemitsu and Tele Novella and released their debut self titled EP in March, 2016.
Santa Barbara will be celebrating their single release party with an all ages show at The Hi Hat (Los Angeles) on Saturday July 15, 2017. Hosted by Gravity Bookings and Penniback. The line-up includes Cat Signs, Playboy Manbaby and High Curbs.
