Eli
Moore is a killer keys player, making his living as a pianist on cruise ships.
After seeng over 40 countries this way and living in close quarters with
hundreds of crazy people, he has put his significant lyrical and musical craft
into the documenting of this Ship Life in his debut, self-produced album.
Ship Life is a musical self-portrait, spanning styles and influences to
relate themes of displacement, love, loss and travel, drawing most deeply from
Eli's love for the singer-songwriters, super-producers and musician’s musicians
of the 70’s. Recorded at the end of last year at Vivek Gabriel's Mt Roskill
studio (Auckland), sessions involved other local artists, including the Black
Quartet, Jocee Tuck and the Andrea Lisa Band.
The upcoming live launch of Ship Life will come close to capturing
the intricacy of Eli's production and arranging on the record. Featuring a 12-piece 'orchestra' featuring
some of Auckland's busiest players, you'll get to rock, groove, sing and swoon
- all at the same gig.
