Music News - Anxiety Club release debut single 'Be Still'

New Wellington 5-piece, Anxiety Club, celebrate the release of their debut single, Be Still, with a show at Meow on Thursday 3 August.
Anxiety Club was formed in 2016 by Kev Fitzsimons (vocals, guitars), after his return from the UK. There he recorded as a solo artist, working with producers such as Guy Massey (Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran), Paul Steel (Empire of the Sun) and Will Donbavand (DJ Shadow), as well as getting airplay on BBC Radio 2 and across the UK.
Following a classified ad, he was joined by Wellington musos Cam “Dusty” Burnell (guitars), Matt Coplon (bass), Clint Meech (keys) and Chris Hill (drums) to form Anxiety Club.
The band quickly worked-up a set of songs, and recorded a raw and energetic live EP, Live at Oceania, currently available via Spotify and their Bandcamp page.
With a sound that sits somewhere between 90s British indie and Americana a la Wilco, Spain and Ryan Adams, online blog The Revue described them as ‘a band to get seriously excited about.’
Buoyed by two great gigs at Moon in Newtown earlier this year, the band have created a studio recording of Be Still, mixed by Andrew Downes (Fur Patrol, Shihad) and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, The Killers).
Supporting Anxiety Club at Meow will be Red Witch Pedals founder and Wellington legend Ben Fulton (with his Phäeton project) and Emily Fairlight.
