Aotearoa’s
famed family band
Three
Houses Down is back with a new song,
Smile - another warm
and infectious reggae anthem that’ll have your toes tapping and your head
bopping.
Co-written by the band’s lead guitarist Josh
Mase and Kiwi singing sensation Sammy J,
Smile is a heartfelt tune that pays
tribute to true love, happiness and that feeling of completeness when you meet
‘the one’.
“‘Being with you makes my heart smile’ was something I messaged my girlfriend
one day,” says the band’s lead guitarist, Josh Mase.
“I thought it would be a great hook for a song so I saved it on my phone. Then
one day Sammy J was around at my house. We went to a nearby park with a toy
piano, we talked about the hook and then wrote the song together.”
The release of
Smile follows on from the phenomenal success of Three Houses Down’s Top 40 smash hit
Love and Affection (feat. General Fiyah),
which lit up the airwaves over summer and has so far clocked more than 1.5
million views on You Tube.
Three Houses Down was
born in 2004 after brothers Rob, Sione and Charlie Pome left their previous
band, based three houses up the road from their parents’ home in South
Auckland. They’ve gone on to become one of New Zealand’s most respected reggae
acts, with several albums to their name.
They’re also firm favourites on the festival circuit and have many times toured
the length and breadth of the country, playing to packed venues and delighting
fans wherever they go.
Three Houses Down is
set to embark
on its latest North Island tour, with General Fiyah. It kicks off in Taupo
tonight - August 4 - and ends in Wellington on September 1.
