Waikato Band Chuganaut have become World Champions of the first ever World Battle of the Bands competition held at Studio in Auckland on Saturday against World Finalists Jaggedy Ann (Los Angeles), Lump (Australia) and Audiotraffic (Hong Kong).
It was a tremendous conclusion to the Final. Excitement amongst the winners was intense.
First up was Jaggedy Ann, a lively female band from the USA who fully turned on the ‘female’ charm. Lump from Australia followed with a heavier, rousing set and third was Audio Traffic from Hong Kong, who provided a tight performance with a slightly softer tone.
Chuganaut then inflamed the audience with their most outstanding and polished performance to date. The ecstatic crowd promptly rose to the occasion showing tremendous enthusiasm and support for the home band. Heads bobbed and arms flailed in the air in synch with every beat as the cheers and chants of ‘Chuganaut’ echoed around the room.
The 27th of November 2004 will certainly go down in history for NZ music's history books.
Chuganaut send a big thanks to all their fans, especially the group that went on the coach to the final and formed the core support for the band on the night.
There aren't enough words to express how thrilled I am for you guys. Keep on chugging and take your music to the world.....................
