Thursday 16th November
8pm, The Wine Cellar
Limited $10 Pre-sales from undertheradar.co.nz
Kingsland Folk Club are proud to announce that their super-sized show, Finger Picking Good, will be returning for its second year at The Wine Cellar on November 16th, featuring an eclectic lineup of their very favourite local acts.
Despite the name, Kingsland Folk Club pulls together musicians from a wide span of genres to delight the senses, and this show is no different. Featuring Sandy Mill, The Bollands, Erny Belle, Te Huhu and special guests, attendees can expect everything from post-punk soul to Americana and all the good stuff in between.
With over 25 years in the music industry, Sandy Mill has collaborated with some of New Zealand’s most acclaimed musicians including SJD, Neil Finn and Don McGlashan, and worked internationally with the likes of Placebo, Basement Jaxx and Gary Newman, but it is her solo material that shines through in all its post-punk glory. She’ll be bringing along her full band to blow the top off The Wine Cellar.
“Sandy Mill is a goddess: an amazing vocalist and brilliant percussionist whose timing and ear for the space in a song is so in synch with Donnelly's that it never conflicts with the tone or overly complicates things” - Undertheradar on SJD album release show at Moon, Wellington.
Indie-pop duo and travelling family band, The Bollands, also join the bill with their hearty folk songs about the twists and turns of life. Always on the road, this duo have been foot- stomping their way across the world. From Taiwanese pizza rooftops, through the streets of India to international music festivals, The Bollands are on a mission to play everywhere for everyone.
Rounding off the lineup is witty alt-country darling Erny Belle and Auckland shoegaze- psych act Te Huhu (Dave Weir, Sam Smith and “The Big Hungry”), with a guest act to be announced.
Kingsland Folk Club is a carefully curated show full of hand-crafted music across many different genres, from some of New Zealand's most talented established and up-and- coming musicians, all put together Rodney Fisher (Goodshirt) and Hayley Smith. Beginning in 2013, it has played host to some amazing talent including Aldous Harding, Nadia Reid, Tattletale Saints, Maaka Pohatu, Troy Kingi, Adam McGrath (The Eastern), Hopetoun Brown and Julia Deans.
Limited $10 pre-sale tickets are available through undertheradar.co.nzfrom Tuesday October 10th.
