Auckland
alternative/electronic/punk artist
Anti Matter is releasing her first music
video this Halloween. The song is called
Deadspace and is inspired by the video
game of the same name.
"Halloween feels perfect because it's literally a song about metaphoric
space zombies." Says singer Courtney Newbold.
"Halloween and creepy/glitchy is my entire aesthetic at Anti Matter, so it
sums everything up perfectly."
Delving further into the song's meaning, she says:
"I wrote this song at a time where I was very burned out, and I was
experiencing what felt like a brain malfunction. The inside of my head felt
like a space that had died."
The song features spacy synths and shout vocals, great for fans of cross
genre and alternative music.
The video depicts singer Courtney gradually looking more distressed,
flicking between a zombie character, and a total alien hair colour changing
character.
"I wanted the dark alien character to represent the inside of my head,
what I felt like it would look inside my brain during this burnout
period."
