PUNK IT UP-date
Saturday 17 February 2018 at The Kings Arms, Auckland City
"Over? Did you
say over? Nothing is over until we decide it is"
- John Belushi as Bluto in Animal House
Over at Punk It Up HQ, we're celebrating the Holiday Season early with the addition of The Johnnys to our line-up, and an earlier start time.
It's also the last week to snag early-bird tickets, the price goes from Santa to Satan on Boxing Day. Regular price will be $46.66 - "for Satan"...geddit?
The season of giving has arrived, and we have placed under the true punk tree yet another gift to the Auckland punk scene in the form of The Johnnys, who will be flying in on a "previously owned" sleigh for a raucous set at Punk It Up. Anyone that's ever seen these guys play will attest to having more fun than drinking all of Santa's beers left under the chimney. With their own special brand of "cowpunk", The Johnnys bring yet more bang for your buck to the already excellent lineup.
In addition, one of New Zealand’s finest punk acts, Proud Scum, are reforming especially for the event, as are Wellington's finest Flesh D-Vice. Aussie punks Wolfpack are gracing us with their "presents", up and coming Kiwi acts Mishap, and Tauranga's The Rocket Jocks, will also add decoration to what will be the actual "most wonderful time of the year". The first part of the “all-nighter” will be concluded with punk covers band bank Robbers(including members of X-Features and No Tag, joined by guests from The Terrorways, Instigators, and many other real NZ punk bands). It's the whole family getting back together to swap sonic noise presents with each other.
Keeping the joyous festivities rocking between bands will be a bunch of Auckland’s finest “selectors” including Dubhead, Phil A, and Miss Dom
NOTE: Doors are now at 7PM to allow for the all the bands mentioned above, and there's always a possibility we might add more...hint hint...
So, after you've had a great feed of punk rock'n'roll with the whanau in the main room, we’re moving the music to the front bar, where the bFM Gang of Four show host dessert, with an After Party that will continue into the wee small hours with DJs Lise, No Tag’s Andrew Boak, The Terrorways' Dean Martelli, and Miss Dom among others.
It’s a total venue takeover - all wrapped up in pretty paper...bands in the main bar, the front bar hosting stalls selling and giving away heaps of punk paraphernalia from the bands performing (and a bunch of artists that aren’t), just because we decide when it's "Over"
Punk It Up - seeing The Kings Arms off with the real "last ever punk show"
