Some
of the biggest names in rock will descend on New Zealand in early 2018 for the
inaugural Storm the
Gates Festival, presented by The Rock FM.
Limp Bizkit and Suicidal Tendencies are
the first announced headliners for the one-day outdoor extravaganza at Trusts Arena in Auckland on Saturday, March 17.
The first line-up announcement also includes
Skinny Hobos,
Written By Wolves and
City of Souls, with
more big international names and local acts to be announced in the coming
weeks.
It’s been 16 years since US rock-rap group Limp Bizkit played on Kiwi soil. Fronted
by the iconic Fred
Durst, Limp Bizkit took the world by storm in the late 90's and
early 2000's with albums such as
Three Dollar Bill,
Y’All$,
Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish and
The Hot Dog Flavored Water.
Some of their hits include
Rollin,
Nookie,
My Way,
Behind Blue Eyes,
Take A Look Around,
My Generation and so many more. Renowned for
their frenzied live performances, the nu-metal legends are set to unleash their
classics in their Storm
the Gates set.
Fellow US punk-rock outfit Suicidal
Tendencies are also guaranteed to be a festival highlight with
their signature thrash metal drums and riffs, funky slap bass and the
unmistakable vocals of Mike
‘Cyco Miko’ Muir.
The band has released an impressive 12 records since emerging on California’s
hardcore punk scene in the 1980s. They include 1988’s
How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today, 1990’s
Lights…
Camera… Revolution - both of which went Gold - and 1992’s
The Art of Rebellion,
which includes three of their biggest hits
Asleep
at the Wheel,
Nobody
Hears and
I’ll
Hate You Better.
Local rock favourites Skinny
Hobos, Written
By Wolves and City
of Souls, join the first announcement, looking forward to
welcoming the first Storm
The Gates festival to New Zealand. More acts to be announced
soon.
