Universal Music Group New Zealand (UMG) and ASB have announced iconic Kiwi band Six60 as the third artist for the ASB Your Dream Gig experience.
Your Dream Gig is part of ‘ASBmusicnz’ – the partnership between ASB and Universal Music New Zealand. It gives school-leavers the opportunity to work on creative projects with internationally-recognised Kiwi artists.
The winner of the Six60 Your Dream Gig experience will be invited to sing on-stage with the popular Kiwi band at their Christchurch concert at Horncastle Arena on March 9, 2018. Ahead of the performance, the winner will get to meet Six60, visit their music studio in Auckland and rehearse with the group.
Six60 announced the competition on their Facebook page today, encouraging up-and-coming singers and fans to submit entries to asb.co.nz/six60 by February 5, 2018. To enter entrants simply need to upload a video of them singing a Six60 song. The winner will be chosen by Six60 and announced on February 7.
Your Dream Gig with Six60 is open to all New Zealanders aged 17 – 25 years old with an ASB bank account. Winners will be invited to meet the band in Auckland, and then join them on stage at their concert in Christchurch - plus they’ll receive $2,000 cash to help kick-start their career.
Chris Mac from Six60 says: “I’ve seen so many incredibly talented singers around New Zealand and I’m positive there are thousands more we’ve never heard. This is an amazing opportunity to not only discover an amazing Kiwi talent but also offer them the chance to use their skills on-stage with us.”
Six60 is third of four artist-led Your Dream Gig projects available to New Zealand-based students. The first provided Waikanae-student Connor O’Brien the opportunity to design an outfit for Sachi to wear on-stage at the Bay Dreams music festival in January. The second offered a Kiwi filmmaker the opportunity to help produce exclusive video content for David Dallas. The final Your Dream Gig experience will be announced later in the month.
ASB general manager marketing Shane Evans says ASB is delighted to offer once-in-a-lifetime experiences to talented young Kiwis.
“There is a lot of creative talent here in New Zealand and we’re excited to give young Kiwis exclusive opportunities to get one step ahead in their careers with well-known music artists,” Evans says.
