Fat Freddy's Drop - Run Times for Saturday's Sell Out Show

19 January 2018 - 0 Comments

International juggernaut Freddy's have relished being back in front of fans at home this summer with appearances at Rhythm and Alps, Kanui Road Vineyard, and Hagley Park in Christchurch.

Joining the action at Villa Maria will be sizzling hot band from Melbourne, Hiatus Kaiyote. The music royalty fan club for the band include Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Andersson.Paak. The band have labelled their sound 'future soul' - akin to a progressive neo-soul group with a little left-of-center hip-hop production. Fronted by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Nai Palm, the band also features bassist Paul Bender, drummer Perrin Moss, and keyboardist Simon Mavin (also of the Bamboos). Now with two albums and one E.P. released  Hiatus Kaiyote can boast a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance (2013), charting on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and a slew of new fans.

Simon Mavin from Hiatus Kaiyote adds,  “Super excited to be coming back to NZ. We had a great run of shows last time, and to be sharing a bill with Fat Freddy's drop on our return; I couldn't think of a better match up.”

Hiatus Kaiyote will be performing at 7.35pm.

Dubbed "the godfather of club culture", Norman Jay MBE returns for his second NZ summer tour with Freddys. Norman Jay is unquestionably  one of the most respected and popular DJs in the world today. Co- founder of the legendary Good Times Sound System and London dance music station KISS FM, Jay fostered the ‘Rare Groove’ scene pushing the boundaries of the UK’s emerging club culture. Awarded an MBE for services to deejaying and music, in 2017 he released ‘Mister Good Times’ capturing the true spirit of Good Times, and on Saturday night from 6.00pm will be delivering nothing but good times.

Gates open at 5.00pm and Logg Cabin will be kicking off  on the wheels of steel to usher in the great musical acts to follow;

6.00pm - Norman Jay MBE,
7.35pm - Hiatus Kaiyote
8.35pm - Logg Cabin
9.00pm - Fat Freddy's Drop
11.00pm - Finish

For ticket holders it is recommended to come along early to get a spot and relax into the afternoon and evening of great music.
