Music News - Wax Chattels Release Stay Disappointed 7" And Announce Signing To Flying Nun / Captured Tracks

On the 5th Anniversary of
the label partnership between New Zealand's Flying Nun Records and
Brooklyn-based Captured Tracks, we are happy to announce the co-signing of
Auckland's Wax Chattels – a first for each label.
When Captured Tracks head honcho, Mike Sniper, came to New Zealand last year he saw just 3 songs from the band's performance at The Others Way Festivaland was hooked. Within 24 hours wheels were in motion and now we are pleased to announce this joint signing, and a limited edition 7" featuring the bands' lasted single, Stay Disappointed.

The band may not have a guitar player, though you wouldn't know it based on their overwhelming sound and energy. They create an atmosphere akin to a traditional loud power trio – except their music is anything but traditional.
The keyboard, bass and drums trio create darkly hypnotic and frenetic music that's rhythmically complex and sinister with the track Stay Disappointed recalling that other side of Kiwi underground rock history, the one that's a bit less sunny and a bit less jangly.
