Rag'n'Bone Man - special guest Teeks announced

22 February 2018 - 0 Comments

Rory Graham, better known asRag’n’Bone Man - the instantly recognizable, powerhouse voice behind the worldwide hit single Human; 2017’s biggest breakthrough artist and the BRIT’s Critics’ Choice Award winner – last November 2017 announced his debut tour of New Zealand in April.

Now, Live Nation and Secret Sounds is thrilled to confirm New Zealand’s newest and brightest star, Teeks will join Rag’n’Bone Man as his special guest.

Hailing from Northland, Teeks grew up surrounded by music and performance. In June last year, Teeks released his debut EP The Grapefruit Skies which he recorded in New York and New Zealand. The EP stopped critics in their tracks, earning outstanding reviews and within the first five months achieving more than 2 million streams on Spotify.

Throughout last year, Teeks has been honing his live performance and has since been signed to UK based touring label, 13 Artists who’s roster includes, among others Radiohead, Alabama Shakes, Paolo Nutini and Royal Blood.

Accompanied by a full band Rag’n’Bone Man will unleash his unmistakable voice at arena shows in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch this April leaving no doubt as to why he has been dubbed one of the world’s most exciting new talents.

Graham’s debut album Human, featuring the hit singles - title track Human and Skin - was released in February 2017, garnering instant respect and praise for its emotive soulfulness. In the UK, Human is the fastest-selling debut album by a solo male artist during the 2010’s, debuting at number one on the UK album charts. In New Zealand the album is certified Gold, peaking at number three on the RIANZ Album chart, plus racking up 4.5 million streams to date.

“Rory Graham’s debut album is at once modern and classic, fusing blues, hip-hop and vintage sounds with pop attitude” - NME

Growing up in East Sussex, Graham first burst onto the music scene at age 15 with a drum and base crew. At 19 he progressed more toward becoming a solo artist, fine-tuning his songwriting skills and colossal vocal prowess eventually attracting the attention of Columbia Records who in 2015 signed him on the strength of his EP Wolves which then led to the release of his full-length debut album Human earlier this year.

Graham is a born performer, when he sings he connects with people on a deeply personal level. During quieter songs, as his vast soulful growl fills the venue, audiences have literally been left crying. With an extraordinary balance of strength and gentleness, Graham’s phenomenal voice has a maturity of someone well beyond his tender years.

“Behind the mighty beard and even mightier voice, a sensitive soul lurks’ – Q

‘His ability to reach those high notes before shooting back down to a gritty earth with complete ease almost makes you shudder.  You get the sense this voice could command an army with little difficulty’ - Express UK
