New Zealand rapper/producer/chief Rei is kicking off 2018 with a smooth new single; Raparapa.
The second single from his upcoming Te Reo Māori EP Rangatira, Rei shows his softer side with this melody-based love song. ‘Rapa’ means to be entangled, relating to the connection between Rei and his lover.
With dreamyacoustic guitars, tight clicks and slapping kicks, Raparapa is the the perfect mix of more traditional Māori music and current musical trends. If Justin Bieber made Māori music, it would probably sound something like this.
Raparapa is also right on time with the new wave of Te Reo music, with artists such as Maimoa and Alien Weaponry breaking new ground in 2017. Mixed and mastered by NZ dance music pioneer Chris Chetland, Raparapahas that signature bass that will kick right through you.
Rei is a 3x Māori Music award winner, a #1 iTunes Hip Hop album holder (NZ) and a NZ music award nominee. Get ready for heaps of new music coming from Rei in 2018, with his Māori language EP Rangatira and a new English language album in the works. With support from the New Zealand on Air projects funding, Rei will continue to release music of an international standard.
