Singer, songwriter and producer Pieter T has spent the better part of the last decade making a name for himself on the world stage. Now simply known as PT, the Kiwi chart-topper returns with R.O.D, a club banger, which showcases a new side to his music and reveals the next steps in his already remarkable journey.
R.O.D debuted today on Spotify's New Music Friday AU & NZ. Listen here. Watch the audio video here.
Hailing from Hamilton, and now based in Auckland, PT’s infectious blend of R’n’B has been blasted on both sides of the Tasman; throughout the Pacific and up and down the West Coast of the United States.
With R.O.D, PT raises the energy levels, pumps up the volume, and pushes further into the worlds of dance and electronica.
“R’n’B is moving into new fields; it has been for a while now,” explains PT. “R.O.D is my take on the genre for 2018 and where I feel it needs to go - electro sound, with sauce dripping through it; love songs to make you move. I want to toy with your emotions while you’re on the dance floor.”
A skilled all-rounder, PT wrote and recorded R.O.D in Auckland, with an all-star Sydney-based production team, including renowned producers Willstah and I.amsolo and mastering guru DJ Sabio, also bringing their magic to the mix.
The track sets the scene for a string of killer tunes from his upcoming full-length album, Goliath, due for release this year. "I cannot wait for people to finally here what I've been working on. I get asked all the time about what’s coming, which in my eyes is a good sign because it means people are ready for something new. I just had to take the time out to really sit in the lab and figure out 'what next'. With Goliath, I feel like I have the answer,” says PT.
With millions of plays on his songs across all platforms - including 1.4 million streams on Spotify on his 2013 smash hit My Baby, as well as featuring on Arona Mane's current single Oscar, PT is undoubtedly one of Kiwi R’n’B’s most successful exports. He also has a stellar live track record, which has seen him play shows, tours and festivals across New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific and the United States.
But not one to rest on his laurels, the Kiwi sensation is back and ready to take on the world. Stay tuned! The release of R.O.D marks the beginning of something special.
