Jed Parsons is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing new acts on the Kiwi
indie-pop scene and today, the singer-songwriter firms up that reputation with
his new single,
Everybody’s
Stupid.
With songwriting wit and a quirkiness that stands him out from the crowd,
Everybody’s Stupid once again sees Parsons demonstrating
a flair for clever lyricism, catchy hooks and angular melodies.
The track is a light-hearted take on the emptiness of modern day life.
“Specifically the time we spend in our online echo chambers believing there is
a clear line between our correct opinions and everyone else's nonsense,” says Parsons.
In January, Parsonsreleased his first single
Get
Lost, which debuted on Apple’s ‘Best of the Week’
playlist. On radio, it was added immediately at Hauraki and received widespread
love from the bNets.
The song’s hilarious
video, featuring topless tennis on a
trampoline, seriously smooth martial arts moves, Holden Kingswood burnouts and
the oldest turbine helicopter in New Zealand, also premiered on Hauraki and
paved the way for Parsonswinning the station’s competition to ‘fill the final spot’ at the 2018 Auckland City Limits music
festival.
Parsonshas had an action-packed summer playing live, with more shows in the works,
leading up to the release of his debut full-length album later this year.
