This Friday, 27 April, Hybrid Rose will release a new track called Just Press Play.
Featuring the NZ based electro-pop singer Fanfickk, this song was sonically inspired by musicians such as Zowie and Kimbra, if they were on acid. Lyrically this song is quite angry! Think about the last time someone cheated on you, or your sister/brother stole your barbie dream house, or your cat ate the last biscuit.
Get ready to crank this new single at full volume and experience the sweet taste of freedom of satisfying hatred. This song also comes from the re-release of Hybrid Rose's debut album Cosmic, (re-titled to Warhol) which will be released in March 2019.
Hybrid Rose
Reigning with pixelated jams and colourful beats- Hybrid Rose is back with a new vibe! When the Wellington based bedroom producer isn't doing her studies, she spends her days locked up in her room, in cyberspace producing catchy retro jams.
Her influences go beyond music, however; the opening chords to Pixels came to her while watching an episode of Adventure Time for example. She also cites vintage design and graphics as an influence, especially in terms of the visuals she produces alongside her songs. While Gray doesn't consider herself a political person, she says she's very passionate about making change.
Her musical character showcases the embodiment of too much sugar, too much spice and a little bit of underground flamboyance. The music is occasionally politically inspired, but she believes the world is fucked so you just gotta dance. Hybrid Rose, a cyberspace character. An infectious virus in your ears, an addiction you cannot quit.
