Dick Tracy will release their debut self-titled album on 12th May 2018 (NZ Music month) on digital platforms and will celebrate by playing the album in it’s entirety on the same date at Lucky Bar + Kitchen in Whanganui.
The self-titled album is a follow up to their 2016 EP release and was recorded at Creative Sounds in Palmerston North, mixed by producer Samuel K Sproull at Home Surgery Recording Studios in Melbourne and mastered at Kog Studios in Auckland.
The band chose Whanganui due to the growing musical culture of the town, but also it is the birth place of the bands bassist, Joshua Hill.
“I always enjoy going to shows in Whanganui as it’s the perfect mix of good people who are out to have fun. So, being able to release and play the album at home with my friends and family will be special.” – Joshua Hill, bassist.
Dick Tracy will also be joined by Tauranga’s
Super Narco Man and Wellingtons
Opium Eater to help them celebrate and will be $10 entry at the door.
Dick Tracy have been a stable in the Rock ‘n Roll community since their inception in Palmerston North in 2012 when they entered a battle of the bands judged by
Tiki Taane and took out the top spot. Since then the 5 piece have had several line-up changes, but have managed to stay consistent by playing regular shows across the North Island.
