Dunedin/Katikati/Auckland
neo-psychedelic rock slackers have released a single, their first release in
five years!
Since their 2013 album Do You Just Want Me To Watch You? Alizarin Lizard have been fairly invisible, only turning up randomly to play boutique festivals
and private parties. However, with the appearance of this new single, it seems
they have not been completely stagnant.
A bit of info about the track...
Back
to Front was written by Paul Cathro, and brought to the band as an almost fully
finished song, making the recording part super easy. For the initial session
Paul made his debut on drums, with Logan Hampton on keys, and Bugs on bass
guitar. The track was then fleshed out with mountains of overdubs by Cathro on
vocals and guitars and Hampton layering up the keys and percussion. When asked
what the track is about, Cathro replied; "It's about not really
understanding people or social queues."
Recorded in Katikati at Lettuce Inn headquarters in 2017 by Alizarin Lizard.
Mixed by Chris Miller, mastered by Samdrub Dawa. Artwork by Sam Caldwell.
Perhaps there will be
another single to follow this in the not too distant future...
