'Ten Little Kiwi Birds' by Children's Music Duo - Itty Bitty Beats

04 May 2018 - 0 Comments

Award winning Christchurch children’s music duo Itty Bitty Beats are back with a new track.

Wanting to ensure the song could be enjoyed by every whanau, kura and preschool in New Zealand, Ten Little Kiwi Birds is being released in three versions, English, Bilingual, and Te Reo Māori.

An innovative video has also been created to accompany either version of the song. The video featuring ten playful digital kiwi birds may be one of the first ever 3D kiwi-ised nursery rhymes to be released in Aotearoa.

Jenny Payne and Lucy Hiku of Itty Bitty Beats are celebrating four years in a row of being nominated for NZ Children’s Music Awards.  This year they are a nominee for the ‘Best Children’s Music Video’ category for their song Hot Air Balloon.

Itty Bitty Beats makes music for little ones with parents in mind. “Caregivers need to listen to these songs too (on loop at times) so it’s important that music for children is easy on adults’ ears”.  Being parents themselves, their three albums are themed; one for bath time, an album of lullabies for bedtime and lastly music to listen to while travelling.  Additionally, Itty Bitty Beats releases a free baby loss song for the baby loss community each year.

The Tui award winners and author Peter Millett met each other in Suzy Cato’s Kiwi Kids Music community and agreed to join forces on a kid’s entertainment project. The result of their collaboration was a song inspired by Millett’s Ten Little Kiwi Birds rhyme that featured in his children’s book Classic Rhymes for Kiwi Kids.

Peter Millett has published several rhyming picture books including Moa’s Ark and Humpty Rugby, and his 2014 title The Anzac Puppy that won the Children’s Choice Picture Book of the Year award.
