"Desperate declarations, vintage chord changes, dramatic buildups and guitar tremolo filled the songs of Marlon Williams . . . His voice was a long-breathed tenor shading smoothly into falsetto; his pants showed a lot of ankle. Brokenhearted and a little geeky, he was a fond throwback to Roy Orbison and Chris Isaak." -- New York Times
Marlon Williams has been on the road nonstop since releasing his sophomore #1 album, Make Way For Love, this past February via Caroline/Universal NZ.
“On Make Way For Love, Williams’ penchant for shimmering, swooning arrangements is alive and well, but driven by a darker, more adventurous spirit that goes a long way toward maturing his sound” --(AV Club).
Last night, Williams returned to CONAN where he and his band, The Yarra Benders, performed Make Way For Love’s “What’s Chasing You.” This followed a stunning performance of standalone single, “Vampire Again,” and the album’s “Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore” on Last Call with Carson Daly last week.
Williams continues his most extensive ever headline tour, playing the Great American Music Hall tonight in San Francisco and Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta this weekend before heading home to New Zealand and Australia.
Tickets to what will be Williams largest ever headline tour of New Zealand are in hot demand, with more than half of the dates already sold out including both Wellington shows. Extremely limited tickets are left for the remaining dates, and fans are encouraged to buy tickets to avoid missing out on what promises to be a very special run of shows this month. |
