Music News - Openside Hit the Road for The Seamless Tour
Auckland-based quartet
Openside today announces their first, all-ages, nationwide tour. The group headlines The Seamless Tour presented by Spark – a series of special all ages events in Christchurch, Palmerston North, Wellington and Hamilton. The tour is in support of Openside’s latest single
No Going Back which was released last month.
No Going Back debuted top ten on the Spotify New Zealand Viral Chart, #41 on the New Zealand Shazam Chart and Top 40 on the Radioscope airplay chart. The track currently has over 120k streams on Spotify, and has just been added to the massive Spotify playlists ‘Get Popped’ and ‘New Pop’ Sounds’. The music video for
No Going Back premiered on US site Alternative Press’ Facebook page which has over 1.2 million unique users.
“Playing all ages shows is important to us,” says Openside's Possum Plows. “We hear from kids all over New Zealand who are eager to go out to shows and be part of the local music scene but they are often blocked out by R18 venues. When we were growing up, there were so many more opportunities to see live music and we want to bring that culture back.”
Joining Openside on the tour is fresh Auckland pop duo
Foley, with
Nomad on the bill in their hometown of Christchurch, and then
Jon Lemmon in Palmerston North and Wellington.
Auckland all-ages audiences have previously been treated to a series of thrilling Seamless shows in Auckland featuring Openside,
Drax Project,
Maala,
Theia, with the latest being with Yoko Zuna in Auckland this Friday night.
Friday June 15 – Foundry, Christchurch (with Nomad and Foley)
Friday June 22 – The Stomach, Palmerston North (with Jon Lemmon and Foley)
Saturday June 23 – R1 Massey University campus, Wellington (with Jon Lemmon and Foley)
Friday 29 June – Meteor, Hamilton (with Foley)
