It’s almost time for the biggest night in New Zealand music with the nominations for the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards officially opening today.
In November the music industry will descend on Spark Arena to celebrate the achievements of Aotearoa’s musical talent over the last year.
Recorded Music NZ CEO Damian Vaughan said celebrating the wide range of extraordinary Kiwi musicians is an annual highlight.
“The Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards are about acknowledging the vibrant artists creating music today, honouring those who paved the way in the past, and inspiring a future generation of creativity.
“It’s been a brilliant year for Kiwi releases and I can’t wait to see the well deserving finalists of 2018 receive the recognition they deserve.”

Additionally, the annual Artisan Awards in November will commemorate the unsung heroes of the New Zealand music scene – the producers and engineers who craft the artists’ work, as well as the talented visual artists translating the musicians’ visions into album artwork and music videos.
This year Recorded Music NZ introduced the inaugural Music Teacher of the Year Tui, which will also be presented in November.
Other ngā Tui presented during the year include those for best artists in Country, Folk, Jazz, Pacific and Children’s music. These winners will also be acknowledged at the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards ceremony.
