The
chart-topping, history-making American hip-hop trio Migos has been
confirmed for Bay
Dreams 2019, headlining the North Island event in Mount
Maunganui.
The Grammy-nominated act
(made up of rappers Quavo, Offset and Takeoff) has
released a string of critically-acclaimed, record breaking albums, including
2017’s
Culture,
followed by this year’s
Culture II, both of which topped the US Billboard 200.
Culture II also
topped the iTunes albums charts in 60 countries and debuted at #1 in 62
countries on Apple Music, achieving one of the largest streaming debut weeks in
Apple Music’s history. It’s
now been streamed more than 1 billion times and certified Platinum.
Their blockbuster
single
MotorSport,
featuring Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, earned Double Platinum status in Canada, and
Platinum status in the US. Their second single,
Stir Fry, produced by
Pharrell Williams, was the official song for NBA's All-Star weekend.
Migos joins a talent-packed
line-up of acts already announced to play at the North Island festival, as well
as the massive warm-up party.
They include
Shapeshifter, Tash Sultana, Sticky Fingers, Peking Duk, $uicideboy$, Macky Gee, Pnau and
Katchafire.
Another line-up
announcement can also be expected, with more exciting local and international
acts joining the party.
Bay
Dreams has
established itself as New Zealand’s biggest festival, selling out year after
year. And now with the event being held across two islands, and close to some
of the best beaches and holiday hot spots in the world, it’s gearing up to be
the highlight of the Kiwi summer. Both locations now boast two main stages
for the first time.
Camping is available at
both festivals, and this year steps it up once again with entertainment such as
NZ’s biggest silent disco; a premium marketplace and hot showers.
The famous one-day
Earlybird ticket deal starts 7.00pm
