Hangar 18 sign a deal with the world’s largest record label

Hangar 18 have just signed to music label giant Universal Music Group MCA in the Philippines on an Asian wide deal. This sees the band released and promoted in 15 countries; The Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Burma and Brunei, in turn exposing the band to a potentially audience of over 2.5 billion people.

Earlier this year the band toured in Asia including 11 performances in the Philippines where the band were signed by music maverick and CEO of UMG Ricky Ilacad. Tim Allen the band’s singer said “We are excited to be working with Ricky and the team at Universal, they are all so cool and the market leader in their field. Our plan of going to Asia first before heading to the usual territories is starting to pay off for us”.

Before heading back to Asia to tour and release their new single Rainy Day, the band are keeping busy performing New Zealand dates around the country which sees them heading to the South Island 2nd-4thAugust as well as some additional North Island dates.

Hangar 18’s return to Asia sees them touring and performing live in venues across The Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. The band are due to perform in Singapore timed with the annual global music industry conference 'Music Matters’, which sees music industry professionals from around the world descend on Singapore for 5 days of showcases and conferences.

The new single Rainy Day is being released in Asia through Universal Music Group in early September with the NZ and Australian release to be scheduled for later this year when the band return to NZ. The music video for Rainy Day was shot in The Philippines during the band’s Asia tour in March and now will be the first country to release the single and music video, followed shortly after by other Asian countries.

Rainy Day is the latest single from Hangar 18’s yet to be titled new album produced by Legendary UK music producer Steve James (Steve’s credits include, Sex Pistols, Monty Python, Ginger Baker, Phil Lynott, Toyah, The Rutles, The Jam, The Screaming Jets, The Rumjacks, Mental as Anything, Cold Chisel, Weta & many more)

Hangar 18 have toured and shared the stage with some of the biggest bands in the world, including; Silverchair, No Doubt - Gwen Stefani, Collective Soul, Ocean Colour Scene, Grace Jones, Everclear and more.

Music Journalist Dazz Hassan from Glam Magazine in Adelaide Australia, who recently saw Hangar 18 live wrote: “New Zealand band Hangar 18 certainly know how to get the crowd going,their performance had the crowd jumping and fist pumping”.
