Original Press Release:

'Nga Kete Aronui' is a music workshop class run by Taipari 'Icepro' Waaka, at Tai Wananga Tu Toa, Palmerston North.

The goal of this class is to use the universal language of music, to help taiohi learn the Life Skills necessary to progress on their individual paths. Commitment, team work, communication, confidence, and leadership are just some of the various attributes that can be learnt through the creative process of music.

There has been 7 classes over term 2 of the school year and Kia Tu, Kia Ora, Kia Maori is the first waiata to be completed by taiohi of our workshop. Within the kupu of the waiata we speak on self confidence, integrity and the importance of working hard to achieve success in all areas of life. Our current goal is to release an album, and use the vehicle of self expression through music, to deliver messages of whanaungatanga, hard work and confidence to whanau.
