Nation are pleased to announce the arrival or their new track Shallows and to present the accompanying video, recorded and filmed live in Wellington.
Working in the arts is never easy – hard work, dedication, progress and opportunities often open doors. And they often don’t.
Shallows, (the studio version of which, recorded by James Goldsmith at Blue Barn Studios, will be released later in 2018) takes an in depth look at the doubts, hopes, triumphs and downfalls of pursuing that which you love; a refreshing and honest approach to a highly relatable topic from the Wellington Soul Funk fusion band Nation.
This groove heavy, melodic and thought provoking new song from Nation tackles that which we all know too well. The realisation that the road is long and winding, and while sometimes it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, never give up on your dreams.
The new song features the soulful vocal stylings of Miharo Gregory, the intricate guitar work of Ngarewa Reid, deep grooving basslines laid down by Dhanesh Parmar, and the lush swung rhythms of Marcus Gurtner. The expert violin work of Sofia Matthews brings new colour to the canvas, while Shallows presents fans with a new and exciting musical frontier.
The video was shot in a single afternoon in Evan’s Bay, Wellington, and was filmed by Lee Gringold.
