The Portobello Blues Festival was established in 2015 and has bought a lot of joy to the Dunedin community ever since. The running of the festival has just been handed over to TBSOM Entertainment (The Bedford School Of Music ltd) and they have huge long term plans for this incredible festival. This year will see the festival made annual by popular demand. They plan to showcase NZ songwriters as much as possible while keeping the incredibly high standard that has been set by the festivals organizers.
This years events will include a massive finale concert, a songwriters showcase, workshops in Songwriting & performance for all ages, talent quest, open mic/jam session, buskers, a showcase presentation from Oamaru's Harbour Street Jazz & Blues Festival, plus a free concert in the Octagon. The event organizers Miriam & Jae Bedford are no strangers to the blues stage or events co-ordination. They have run and been involved in The Future Is Now Festival & Tours, Fire & Steam, Harbour Street Jazz & Blues Festival, Christmas at Friendly Bay, New Years Party Oamaru & so much more.
The Bedfords are currently seeking sponsorship to cover cost and pay the festival entertainers. Naming rights & event/artist sponsorship is also available. If you are interested in sponsorship or volunteering please message [email protected].
This years festival will be on March 8th & 9th. Look out for artist & event announcements on Facebook.
