‘You’re the Future of Music’ – This Week at Anthology Lounge

08 October 2018 - 0 Comments

‘You’re The Future of Music’ returns this week for a second session of live music at Karangahape Road’s Anthology Lounge.

Held each fortnight at Auckland’s new home for music performance, ‘You’re The Future of Music’ promises to showcase a diverse collection of New Zealand’s freshest up and coming musicians as they cut their teeth and refine their craft in front of a live audience. Don’t miss your chance to say ‘you heard them first’ at Auckland’s premiere new music night.

Tickets are only $5 and available on the door. Doors open at 7pm.

On stage this week:

PAIGE
Honing her skills by busking and performing local gigs, Paige’s mastery of modern acoustic melody and performance belies her young age. With her debut single So Far released earlier this year – which has already clocked a staggering 120,000 plays on Spotify – there is no doubt this 20 year old independent singer songwriter’s star is on the rise.

Paige’s lifelong passion for music has paved the way to a national debut via a feature on New Zealand’s X-Factor in 2015, while simultaneously building ardent followings across YouTube and Instagram. Here through ‘PaigesSpace’, Paige uploaded her own spin on a collection of emotional acoustic covers by Dua Lipa, Khalid, Destiny’s Child, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber and more – enabling followers to get just a glimpse of the talent to come.

In 2017 Paige self-released her EP On My Own, and proved both her insightfulness and talent via a Ted X talk at the University of Auckland. She recently captured the attention of teen indie electro-pop prodigy Billie Eilish who endorsed her as a personal favourite.

Paige’s latest single, Alignments has just been released and is on Spotify now.

TOMMIE
Tommie is a 23 year old producer/singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Inspired by the likes of Halsey and Banks, Tommie blends laid-back vocal lines over r’n’b and pop influenced synth tracks.
Raised in Whangarei, she later moved to Auckland to pursue her music career. In 2018 Tommie teamed up with the producer Noema to work on her debut EP, with her first single Better releasing in September.
The Tove Lo influenced dance track boasts of youthful rebellion and is underpinned by a catchy bassline, with the synths an ode to the iconic sounds of the 80’s.
Already gaining over 6000 streams for Better on Spotify, Tommie is one to watch!

AVYA GRACE
Avya Grace is a soulful kiwi artist and acclaimed wedding singer with a passion for performance and all things soul.
Bringing you a variety of delicate vocal tones and heart felt lyrics, Avya is highly influenced by the likes of Amy Winehouse and Brooke Fraser.
Avya has been working in music professionally since the age of 13, and has written albums worth of material. Her collection of emotive originals, as part of her Studio Sessions are on YouTube now, with a new EP on the way soon.

CHRIS BATES
Chris Bates is a singer/songwriter based in Auckland. He’s been writing and performing around the city since the age of 13. His songwriting influences range from musicians such as John Mayer all the way through to Bruno Mars.
Earlier this year he featured on Here 4 U, produced by EDY, and his debut single, Say The Word has just been released on all major digital platforms.
