Together, Toni Randle and Andrew Keegan make the heart of folk/chamber pop group Eyreton Hall, who today announce the release of their new album Spaces, due on Friday 1st March on Marigold Music.
Self-written and co-produced with Ben King (Goldenhorse, Grand Rapids), Spaces is an authentic songbook from Randle and Keegan - written in the depths of coping with loss and grief, recovery, and finding hope and new beginnings. The ten-track story is the hearty follow up to their debut album Featherstitch, which prompted love from niche folk blogs and journalists around the globe.
The pair are independent New Zealand label Marigold Music’s most recent signing. Label owners Joost Langeveld and Chris Van de Geer are thrilled to have backed the creation and release of Eyreton Hall’s second album. “Eyreton Hall had been on our labels radar since prior to the release of their album Featherstich, but it wasn't until the process of them creating Spaces that some fortuitous circumstances arose, and we were able to join Toni and Andy on the Spaces journey - it's such a beautiful record, encapsulating a wonderful mood and of course, their ever present, well crafted songwriting," says Van de Geer.
Today, Eyreton Hall also share the album’s weighty title track, which alludes to the significance of space. Open spaces, space in relationships, finding space in the day – although the core inspiration behind the song was the passing of Ilse Hull, a very close friend of Randle and Keegan’s. Listen to the single Spaces below, and watch the stunning visuals created by New Zealand artist Courtney White and designed by Jared Kahi.
“I find myself thinking about her in the most unlikely places,” says Randle “places we’ve never been together, songs we never heard together, wine she would have loved, and then life gets crazy and she’s not been on my mind for a while, and I realize, all over again what we have lost. The grief process is certainly a curious one.”
