Doha is the first album from Christchurch based rapper Dharma Dan.
After six years of focusing primarily on deep meditation and retreat work, this album comes seemingly from nowhere as he aspires to share his journey with the world.
'Doha' is a Sanskrit word which means songs of realisation, or songs of experience. A doha is an ancient form of poetry where an expression of an individual's spiritual understandings is shared in the form of rhyming couplets.
The album invites us to see through the lens of a 26 year old attempting to walk a spiritual path in a contemporary world, and features music from NZ Psytrance artist Mr Squatch.
Dharma Dan has chosen to offer this music freely so that the music is an offering rather than a product. The opportunity to give Koha is available if you download the album from Bandcamp.
