Moondogs Blues Releases New Album

23 October 2018 - 0 Comments

Recorded live to tape and mastered for vinyl Moondogs Blues' new album Some Poor Fools was recorded over two days at Anzac Road Studio, Whangarei.

The full band was recorded live to 24-track tape, which was then mixed down to 2-track tape by Alex Selman. The tape mixes were then mastered directly to vinyl. The digital copies were mastered separately, from the original tape mixes, and released Nov 2nd on CD and online.

This recording truly captures the live sound and feel of Moondogs Blues in 3-piece mode featuring Moondog- vocal and guitars. His instruments are mostly metal… and modestly abused. His nocturnal freight train voice plus blues harp… it’s the blues. With drummer Ben Michelsen standing up next to Moondog, beating & stomping the good-times out of a custom drum kit. Add Matt Shepherd on bass, locking it all together – the way only a 3-piece unit can... possessed, heartfelt and real.

Moondogs Blues will be playing Some Poor Fools in it's entirety on Friday November 2 at The Butter Factory, Whangarei.
