The video for Selfish was made by Taktix Films - the production company responsible for Justin Bieber’s video for Sorry, which has been watched an astonishing 3,000,000,000 on YouTube, and Ciara’s Level Up, which has more than 100,000,000 views. Directed by Jared Leith, the video was shot in Auckland’s CBD and at the famed West Coast beach, Piha, and captures the light-hearted sentiment of Selfish, which is all about expressing a love for that someone special.
“That person who you can’t get off your mind. It’s a longing and a selfish desire to have that person all to yourself. You want them to throw caution to the wind come along for the ride,” says Jackson.
A fun-filled summer anthem packed with pop hooks, Selfish was produced by Auckland-based producer Alex Wildwood, who also worked alongside Jackson on his debut single Touch as well as his second single The Weekend, both of which have clocked more than 100,000 on streaming platforms.
Jackson Owens embarked on his solo career this year and has gone from strength-strength, releasing a string of catchy singles and now supporting Kiwi legend Stan Walker on his 12-date New Zealand tour, which kicked off in Queenstown and winds up in Auckland on November 17.
