Kiwi cinematic rockers Written By Wolves have just dropped their debut EP, Prologue, featuring their latest single Promise Me.

A moving and deeply personal song about a phone call Michael Murphy had with his dad, who had just been diagnosed with cancer. “The lyrics in both verses replicate the initial conversation between us and alternate between my dad and I narrating,” explains Murphy.
“This is the most raw, emotional and honest song I have ever written lyrically but is probably the one I am most proud of to date,” he says.
Prologue is the culmination of three years of hard graft by one of the most exhilarating bands on the scene right now. A snapshot of where the Auckland-based five piece is at and a sign of what’s still to come.
It draws from everything Written By Wolves have experienced since their inception and pushes forward with the intention of exciting fans about what’s still in store.

The record was mixed by renowned Kiwi musician and singer-songwriter Thomas Oliver at BigPop Studios in Auckland, with Rich Bryan and the band themselves sharing production credits.
Written By Wolves is made up of some of the most well-known names in Kiwi music - Davie Wong, Bahador Borhani, Karl Woodhams, Oli Lyons and Michael Murphy - all of whom have been involved in the local rock scene for the better part of the last 10 years. This experience, coupled with youthful enthusiasm have combined to create a sound all of their own, fusing together their favourite elements of rock, alternative, electronic and pop music that is exciting and fresh.
In the short lifespan of the band they have amassed more than six million plays on Spotify and more than 11,500 followers on Facebook. Written By Wolves have released 13 music videos and their songs have been viewed over 10,000,000 times on YouTube, where they have over 42,000 subscribers.
The band’s live reputation is also second to none. They recently supported Devilskin around New Zealand, capping off an already stellar 2018 that saw them play Bay Dreams Festival in Mt Maunganui, Storm The Gates Festival and Ohakune Mardi Gras.
They received a Highly Commended in the 2016, 2017 and 2018 editions of the Unsigned Only International Songwriting Competition for their songs Genius, Timebombs & Hurricanes and Not Afraid To Die. Their online following continues to grow worldwide with fans from all over the globe expressing their die-hard commitment to the band.
