A wholesome collection of delicious melodies, Anna van Riel’s interactive album Fishing For Stars is available today!
Fishing For Stars boasts fun and imaginative songs that encourage children to interact through making sound (yes even farty ones!) and copying actions - all the while contributing to positive brain development.
The album touches on everything from learning the Days of the week in te reo Maori, story of a young girl calling to her ancestors during Matariki, The Haere Mai song welcoming kindy kids to the mat, to a super hero yelling song for the over energised child! Fishing for Stars even covers lullabies and Christmas.
Co-produced, mixed and mastered by New Zealand electronica musician and producer Danny Fairley (Civilian Sol, Arma del Amor), the album promises a delightful listening experience for both primary aged children and adults alike.
While Fishing For Stars takes a detour from Anna’s much loved grassroots music career, she is no stranger to making music that children love, having written and sung children’s songs for many years, one of which landed her the Best Children Song in the 2010 Australian Dolphin Music Awards, a Tui nomination for Best NZ Children’s Album in 2014 and Best Children’s Song at the 2016 and 2017 Australian Songwriters Awards.
