Coast has announced today they will be welcoming Mel Homer to the station to co-host alongside Jason ‘JT’ Tikao on the weekday Drive show.
Homer has previously been the host on Mix since it began as an Auckland-only station in 2014, and is the host of The Café.
Mel and JT have worked together for years, but have always been involved with different stations. This will be their first time on-air together, even though their friendship goes back to their early days in radio.
“I’m really looking forward to joining JT on Drive,” says Homer. “I couldn’t think of anyone I’d rather work with than JT. I’ve got great stories I can’t wait to tell about him, I know where his skeletons are hidden!”
JT seconds that sentiment. “I’ve known Mel for years and years and it’s awesome to finally be able to work together. I’m only slightly concerned about the stories that might come up about the early years!”
The pair will bring a show that is more than just music – they’ll review the big conversation points of the day, have some ideas for the evening ahead and help deliver some fun moments to lighten the drudgery of the evening commute home.
The new Drive duo complete the Coast lineup, with Jason Reeves and Bernadine Oliver-Kerby on Breakfast, Lorna Subritzky on days and Nights with Rick Morin.
Coast plays superstar favourites including Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Billy Joel, The Eagles, Elton John, Queen and David Bowie.
Mel and JT will be on air from Monday January 14.
