Due to unforeseen circumstances US rap collective Migos is cancelling their upcoming Australia and New Zealand tour and so will no longer perform at Bay Dreams at The Mount.
Promoters have, however, been working tirelessly to secure top-notch international talent to take his place at the sold-out festival on Wednesday, January 2 and are pleased to announce that Harlem hip-hop’s finest Sheck Wes and one of the driving forces of Atlanta’s trap scene, Rich The Kid, will be joining the line-up. US sensation Cardi B is still confirmed to headline the festival and will play at both The Mount and Nelson.
The two US hip-hop up-and-comers will perform at ASB Baypark Stadium in Mount Maunganui alongside some of the most well-known acts in music right now, including Cardi B, Tash Sultana, Joey Bada$$, Peking Duk, $uicideboy$ and local, but world renowned legends, Shapeshifter and Katchafire, plus many more exciting names.
Sheck Wes made his mark in 2017 with his smash hit ‘Mo Bamba’, which went viral. Today it boasts more than a whopping 220 million streams on Spotify. He’s not long released his album Mudboy and Bay Dreams ticket holders at The Mount will be among the first in the world to hear the new material in the flesh.
“Sheck’s raw and unruly debut is a force to be reckoned with, a coming-of-age album from an über-hyped prospect that actually delivers on its promise” - Pitchfork
Rich The Kid has been carving out his reputation in the hip-hop scene with killer mixtapes since 2013, leading to the release of his official debut album The World Is Yours earlier this year. It includes features from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Quavo and solidified his place as one of the most exciting names in rap.
The addition of Sheck Wes and Rich The Kid to the Bay Dreams: The Mount bill finalises what is without question one of the best festival line-ups of the summer.
