Bay Dreams Nelson is getting a second campground at Saxton Fields, which will cater to 3000 festival-goers.
Promoters have secured the extra campground due to an overwhelming demand for extra sites to accommodate ticket holders attending the sold-out festival at Trafalgar Park in Nelson on January 4.
Bay Dreams is one of the most popular festivals of the Kiwi summer music calendar, with the Mount Maunganui event selling out year after year. But this is the first time it's been held in the South Island, with promoters selecting the summer hot spot of Nelson to host the event, which opens on January 3 with a warm-up party, and is expected to draw tens of thousands of local music lovers and holidaymakers.
The Bay Dreams Nelson line-up on January 4 boasts some of the biggest names in music, from US hip-hop sensation Cardi B and Australian one-woman-band Tash Sultana, to Kiwi legends Katchafire and UK extraordinaire Macky Gee.
The warm-up party features Mr Carmack, Hybrid Minds and Stanton Warriors.
Tickets for the new campground start at $109 and are available as an add-on to festival tickets. This includes two nights camping; return bus trips to the festival and the pre-party; supermarket shuttle; silent disco and entertainment. There is also a bar on site.
To add camping on to your tickets, simply log into your Ticket Fairy account and select 'My Tickets' then 'Details' next to your Bay Dreams ticket. Then select "'add add-on'.
