Church & AP announce special guests for Auckland show

21 January 2019 - 0 Comments

Kiwi Hip-Hop’s new kids on the block Church & AP will end the northern leg of their debut New Zealand tour with a bang in Auckland this anniversary weekend, with an exciting line-up of special guests and a new killer single, Loud As Hell.

Listen here.

Church & AP have been performing to excited crowds on ‘The Communities Tour’, which has taken them across the North Island.

The dynamic duo will appear at the Tuning Fork in Auckland on Sunday, January 27, with a ‘who’s who’ of Kiwi up-and-comers joining the bill, including Race Banyon, Trey Bond, Leaping Tiger, Jinzo, humbleboy! and Katayanagi Twins (DJ’ing).
This is an all-ages show.

Church & AP have taken the world by storm with their unique blend of hip-hop, including the smash single Ready or Not, which made its way from heavy rotate on Mai FM and Flava to the UK’s famed BBC Radio 1xtra via tastemaking radio presenter and DJ Jamz Supernova. Now, Loud As Hell looks destined for the same success, having clocked up thousands of streams in just a matter of days.

Loud As Hell is a short track with playful lyrics throughout,” says Church. “You can’t always take yourself too seriously so this isn’t the most lyrical take I’ve had on a song. There are moments of importance though. The hook is self explanatory. It’s for people that claim humility but are really out here on social media always flexing. Like dude... shut up.”

Church & AP have been riding a wave of success following the release of their debut EP Thorough Bread. At just 18 and 19 years of age, and staunchly independent, the pair came together as a duo through taking part in local community hall music programs in Auckland’s Mount Roskill and Te Atatu, under the watchful eye of fellow Kiwi hip-hop artists such as Melodownz and Tom Scott and local producer Iron Will.

From there, the duo’s distinctive and self-assured blend of southern/UK rap fused with grime has done all the talking, with songs such as their social media hit Introvert winning over fans from the ground up. Church's video performance on David Dallas’ famed Red Bull’s 64 Bar Series; coupled with the killer set at this year’s The Others Way festival, as well opening slots for Saba and Genesis Owusu only served to build the hype.

And Church & AP haven’t failed to deliver. They’ve actualised the hype and smashed it out of the park.

Tickets for the all-ages Auckland show are only $15.
