Local singer on the rise Paige announced as support for George Ezra's sold out Spark Arena show

31 January 2019 - 0 Comments

With his #1 hit Shotgun well and truly one of the hits of the summer, there was no doubt that George Ezra's first New Zealand headline show would be a sell out. The lucky ones who managed to get tickets to Monday's concert are in for an extra treat with the chance to be introduced to local star in the making Paige.

Paige has attracted notice with her latest single Alignments, after building an online following that got a huge boost when Billie Eilish discovered Paige on Instagram and promoted her to her fans. Get to the show early to catch Paige before she hits the big time.

Hailing from South Auckland/New Zealand, 20 year-old Pop artist Paige’s heartfelt songwriting holds nothing back, making listeners feel as if they have a front row seat to her life as it unfolds in real time. Plumbing her own experiences, she turns her truths into universally relatable stories with a poetic honesty that resonates deeply. This affecting lyricism, together with her soulful vocal style and tone, has drawn comparisons to Kehlani, Alessia Cara, Nora Jones, and even the late Amy Winehouse.

Paige’s mastery of her craft belies her age, but then, she’s been captivating audiences since age seven when she began performing in school talent and variety shows. Honing her skills busking and performing local gigs, she ultimately earned a feature on New Zealand’s X-Factor in 2015, while simultaneously building ardent followings on YouTube and Instagram through prodigious uploads of emotional acoustic covers from the catalogs of Dua Lipa, Khalid, Destiny’s Child, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Rex Orange County, Sam Smith and more. In 2017 she self-released her EP On My Own, and proved both her insightfulness and talent via a Ted X talk at the University of Auckland. She recently captured the attention of teen indie electro-pop prodigy Billie Eilish who endorsed her as a personal favourite.

She says about her music “I’ve loved the way music makes me feel for as long as I can remember and want to make people happy and feel the way I feel when I listen to music.”
