Beacon Bloom have unleashed their debut video for Materia today.
The video for Materia was pro-shot live by Ryan Wilkes along the lines of Pitchfork/KEXP and was filmed at Beacon Bloom’s launch party at secret location in Christchurch late last year.
Beacon Bloom is the musical outlet of New Zealand native Ryan Ferris. Ryan has spent the last 5 years in 22 countries as a musical nomad, following the sun, writing and performing in the opposite seasons of Australasia and Europe.
Materia is the song that spawned Beacon Bloom. Its name comes from Latin and means matter or source – that of which everything is based. It is also part of Final Fantasy VII Mythos, a game from Ryan’s youth which holds sentimental value to him. Described by Ryan as "a sonic fever-dream of techno, disco and postrock" Materia will leave you wanting more.
On 16 December 2018, Beacon Bloom released their teaser track Jobim which was picked up by 4 radio stations around New Zealand and resulted in two radio interviews. In addition to the music, Beacon Bloom aims to become more than just a musical outfit. There are established and ongoing plans to create incredible immersive visual and sensual experiences with ambiences channeling that of Berlin nightclubs and leading art / technology events to complement and highlight the live shows.
Beacon Bloom aims to release one new track per month and will resume live performances later in 2019 with another secret show and performances in the festival circuit over the summer.
