Megan Sidwell has today released I Got You, the first single off her upcoming debut album Right Kind of Wrong. It’s an exciting start to what will be a huge year for Megan, a New Zealand transplant, who took out the Battle of the Bands at the 2016.
I Got You was written and recorded in Nashville, co-written with Anthony Snape and produced by Sam Hawksley, who has also worked with country legends The Sunny Cowgirls and Adam Brand. Speaking about the single, Megan says “it’s about following the road towards your dream, no matter how hard it is, because you have someone by your side that helps pick you up if you stumble. It’s about someone that believes in you, someone who feels like home.”
Whoever that person is by Megan’s side, we owe them a massive thank you because I Got You is a uplifting track showcasing Megan’s dreamy, heart-melting vocals and instrumental skills. “I’ve got sunrise,” she sings, but the sun will soon shine on the prodigious talent that has seen her support acts including Tyler Hilton, Kate Voegele and Big Country, and play 16 of her own shows at the 2019 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
With her debut EP, Forever on a Sunday, described as “five tracks of country pop goodness, a presence that lingers long after the 20 minute run time and an incredibly polished sound for a first release,” you can be sure that I Got You is an impressive first look at what will be an equally impressive debut album.
