Music News - Ivy Blue 2019 European Tour Postponed

Ivy Blue 2019 European Tour Postponed

04 July 2019 - 0 Comments

Unfortunately, due to the injuries sustained by James because of a horrific assault on public transport a couple of weeks ago, Ivy Blue will no longer be able to tour Europe. Doctors have made an early ruling that James will not be able to make the long-distance flights necessary to get to Europe, never mind handle the intensity of the original plans; and have ordered James to pull the plug for his own safety.

James will be back in Europe as soon as possible once given the all-clear by doctors and scheduling allows. All parties involved in the organization of the tour apologize greatly for the inconveniences this will cause; however, it is important for James to fully recover before making a long-distance trip on that scale. We will hopefully have more details available soon regarding possible rescheduling, but this will depend on how long it takes for James to recover. When details are made available, you will be the first to know.

From James:

“This sucks. Nobody asked to be in this situation, and I certainly didn’t ask for the injuries that I have sustained because of what happened. I’m feeling terrible that I am having to postpone my shows for Europe, which would have been the first on the Elstow Stars touring cycle. I REALLY wanted to go play; and I was hoping that we could get there some way with the doctor’s approval. But as I am in recovery- the doctors in charge have given me no choice but to pull out of these shows. I’m sorry. I wish I was able to go, but right now; it’s clear that it’s not going to happen. I can only hope for a speedy recovery for myself, so I can get back to Europe as soon as I can. I will not let this beat me and when I come back; I’ll be better”.

In the meantime; James will be playing a small number of New Zealand shows from next week until later in the year. Here's a list of dates that James has been signed-off on for the first instance:

Napier: July 11, The Cabana (XFM Support)
New Plymouth: July 12, The Mayfair (XFM Support)
Napier: August 28, The Paisley Stage (Emma G Support)
Auckland: October 3, ASB Waterfront Theatre (Revue 2019)
Auckland: October 4, ASB Waterfront Theatre (Revue 2019)
Wellington: October 12, Botanic Gardens Soundshell

A postponement date for the Papatoetoe Town Hall will be confirmed soon to take place later in the year. Some other shows dates may be planned depending on James's recovery and if this happens, we'll let you know.

Promotional plans for Ivy Blue’s 8th album Elstow Stars will move forward as scheduled, however; as James has been unable to approve final mixes due to this situation- the pre-orders have been moved to July 28th 2019. The album will be released on August 14th as planned, with a special event in the works for the album’s launch. More details to come.
