Jarni Blair is proud to share his second EP, Sparkle In My Eye, a collection of tracks written as early as 2011, delving into his personal experiences with heartbreak, addiction issues and spirituality. The EP is a confessional and openhearted body of work that pulls no punches, and leaves no stone unturned.
The 6-track EP sees the Auckland-based singer-songwriter explore catchy pop-hooks and soulful, smooth vocals in Light To Burn, to edgier more blues-rock riffs and spiritual lyrics in Quench Your Thirst, while the experience is rounded off with the uplifting almost gospel style The One I Love. A collaboration with fellow musicians Ciaran McMeeken, Dan Sharp, Jasper Hawkins, Christian Tjandrawinata and Edward Martin, in the EP’s opening track, Better Me, adds something extra special to the listening experience, their musical connection clear to see.
Originally hailing from Dunedin, it was his father’s record collection that attracted him to become a musician and songwriter, drawing influence from artists such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and more. He’ll be celebrating the release with shows in Auckland and Dunedin with his full band, featuring Mitch French, Grant Morgan and Andrew Kerr. Show details below.
Auckland // Wine Cellar // August 24
