The new single Bulgarian Mountains is out today. This will feature on the new album The Brightest Light to be released on March 6, 2020 on V2 Records, with a release show in Paradiso, Amsterdam the same day.
Oliver talks about the new single:
"'Bulgarian Mountains' is a song about the feeling of freedom, based on an encounter in Amsterdam, and connected with an instant attraction between male and female."

“My videographer and I had just landed in Amsterdam after 30 hours of flying from New Zealand. We went straight to the Melkweg to meet with my agent, and he had a friend with him who lived in Amsterdam but was from Bulgaria,” says Oliver.
“When I asked about her, she told me that she had just dropped out of university because it didn't feel right to her, and she was going home to Bulgaria, to the mountains, to be away from everything and reconnect with herself. She didn't care what anyone else thought of it. I don't even think she uses social media. I dropped out of uni too, which I told her proudly. I found myself both attracted to her nature, and empowered by the reminding idea that we can, in so many cases, do whatever we want. Within half an hour, we had made plans to visit her in Bulgaria at the end of the tour. The next morning, I woke up at 5.00am because of jet-lag, and I lay in bed and wrote the song. Thanks, Martina – it's cool when people place value in the health of their spirit.”
Oliver is internationally recognised as one of the world’s leading players of the Weissenborn lap-slide guitar and in 2013 he took momentary leave from his singer-songwriter roots to release Beneath The Weissenborn, an unprecedented album which explored this instrument, and received 5-star reviews around the world and sold out shows across the country.
Simultaneously, Oliver sports a title as one of the most celebrated vocalists in the genre of Drum & Bass, having released a massive 20 collaborations with some of the genre’s finest producers, including Logistics, Hybrid Minds, Nu:Logic, Black Sun Empire, Urbandawn, Trei, Concord Dawn and Etherwood and having been released on some of Drum & Bass’s most prestigious labels, including Hospital Records, Metalheadz, Blackout and RAM Records.
Whilst currently based in Berlin, Oliver has toured and performed throughout New Zealand, Australia, Europe, the UK, Asia and the USA, and has also shared the stage with such legends as Joe Cocker, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Eric Clapton and Xavier Rudd, and a recent tour of the Netherlands with Dutch favourites, My Baby.
The remainder of 2019 will see the release of the first tastes of Oliver’s new music, then into 2020 with a full-length album titled The Brightest Light - due for release in March, 2020. He will also be touring across Europe, New Zealand and Australia. Tickets for the album release show in Paradiso, Amsterdam are available now.
