Start your morning off beautifully with David Kilgour & the Heavy Eights’ Looks Like I’m Running Out, a video directed by Pat O’Neill and Kilgour himself. It’s the latest offering from Kilgour’s forthcoming record Bobbie’s A Girl, out September 20.
Kilgour on the video:
"I’ve always wanted to make a surf video for a song, so when Mac Merge suggested we make a surf video for a song, we did. Looks Like I’m Running Out was shot in the middle of winter on the southern coast of New Zealand. Pat suggested getting local surfer Daisy Thomas to feature, and she and her friends kindly agreed. Why Daisy? Well, she is one of NZ’s leading longboarders, and we think she’s all style and makes average surf conditions look pretty cool. Along with Heavy Eights drummer Taane, Pat and I are keen on surfing, and surfing culture in general, so it was a no-brainer. I think Mac may also surf or is at least a closet surfer. Time constraints and winter conditions here in the deep south made for a challenging shoot, so BIG THANKS to Pat, Daisy, Will, Amelia, and also John Mead and Graham McArthur at Video Factory.
Revisit Coming In From Nowhere Now and the video for Smoke You Right Out Of Here from Bobbie’s A Girl before pre-ordering the album on CD, LP, and “cat’s eye” (clear/yellow/red swirl) vinyl in the Merge store or wherever records are sold, including the merch table at Kilgour’s New Zealand shows this autumn, which will feature a very special New Zealand only coloured vinyl.
