Two upcoming Christchurch rock bands are embarking on a double debut album tour that is set to showcase not just the talents of the females in the bands but also connecting women across the country.
Retro rock band Moonflower, fronted by Nicole Schaap, and dirty blues ninjas Hypnumb, fronted by Bex Barrett, have joined forces to unveil their own brand of rock on the NZ stage and some of the most influential female performers. The tour has attracted talents such as Wellington’s rock band Merrin, burlesque sensations Venus Starr and Jasmine Tease and has been supported by Devilskin’s own lead singer, Jen Skulander.
The theme for the show grew from the recent frustrations regarding the lack of female representation in music with the likes of RNZ in 2019 reporting that at some NZ festivals there is less than 10% female representation. Therefore, this show hopes to showcase some of the brightest up-and-coming female performers in the country.
This playful celebration of strong women is being toured country wide starting in Nelson at the Boathouse, Friday 13 September, 7.30pm and then in Wellington at Valhalla, Saturday 14 September, 8pm. Don’t miss out, get your tickets from Cosmic ticketing or don’t be late to grab yourself a door sale.
